Red Kettle Campaign

The Salvation Army bells have been ringing in Memphis for more than 100 years. The Red Kettle Campaign is The Salvation Army's largest annual fundraiser with proceeds used to provide programs and services throughout the year.

WREG News Channel 3 has been our Red Kettle partner during recent years. They have helped publicize our daily total, interviewed clients who have been helped by The Salvation Army, spoken to volunteers and even hosted their own Day of Ringing. We have been blessed by their partnership and hope you have enjoyed hearing about our work on their newcasts.

Kettles are located at 60 area businesses throughout the greater Memphis area - from Southaven to Covington and from downtown to Collierville. It takes an army of volunteers - over 725 this past Christmas - to man the red kettles. It's a fun activity for the family, a church or civic group or for an individual, and we know that you'll be blessed by the experience. Day captains are assigned to a specific day and location and are responsible for recruiting ringers for their kettle site. The Red Kettle Campaign runs from Thanksgiving week-end through Christmas Eve. Sounds like fun?

When you pass one of our kettle workers, please don't pass them by. Instead, wish them a Merry Christmas, thank them for their service, and by all means, drop some money into the kettles. Remember that "when you make a donation, you can expect change".

The 2010 Red Kettle Campaign will kick off on November 19 and run until noon on Christmas Eve. Help us reach our goal of $480,000 by volunteering to ring the bell. The Salvation Army is in need of Day Captains for this year's campaign. If interested in being a Day Captain this holiday season or for more information on Red Kettles in general, please call Stacie Glover at 901-543-8586.. For additional information on kettles or to become a day captain, please call Stacie Glover at (901) 543-8586.

Can't find the time to Ring the Bell this year? Set up an Online Red Kettle.

Now you can be a bell-ringer for The Salvation Army without physically ringing the bell, thanks to the Online Red Kettle program. Don't carry cash? No problem. You can donate to the Online Red Kettle without having to search deep in your pockets for any overlooked change.

The Online Red kettle program allows The Salvation Army to expand upon our iconic Red Kettles and explore non-traditional fundraising methods which involve a more personal support. This program is simple to use, even for those who do not use computers or the Internet everyday.

You can learn about hosting your own Online Red Kettle at www.onlineredkettle.org.
