Community Intake & Assessment/ Permanent Supportive Housing HotlineThe City's Community Intake/Assessment Program and Permanent Supportive Housing Hotline, located at The Purdue Center of Hope, serves as a liaison between homeless or potentially homeless persons and homeless service providers. The fight against homelessness requires coordination among all the agencies and homeless shelters in the Mid-South. Our Program Coordinator and Intake Counselor receive, assess and respond to calls from families who are confronting homelessness and, after assessing the various situations, provide the appropriate referrals. Our staff members build and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies. The goal is to improve communication among participating agencies and homeless shelters, and to increase the number of services to the homeless population in Memphis and Shelby County. A daily list of shelter availability is maintained along with mainstream resource contacts. The Permanent Supportive Housing Hotline works in conjunction with the intake and assessment program. The hotline provides a central source of up-to-date, comprehensive and reliable information regarding eligibility requirements and availability of beds/units in permanent supportive housing programs and facilities. This program helps prevent homelessness and significantly reduces the time and effort required to locate appropriate permanent supportive housing for clients. A database of permanent supportive housing is updated as units are available. The office for the Community Intake/Assessment Program and Permanent Supportive Housing Hotline is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The number to call for the Community Intake/Assessment Program is 901-543-8584.
