Coffee Break: Bells Will Be Ringing

With days left in its annual red kettle campaign, The Salvation Army in Memphis is $50,000 away from its goal of $290,000.

"The Memphis community has responded very generously so far this year to the bell-ringers," said Maj. Mark Woodcock, Area Commander.

Money raised from the collection goes to The Salvation Army efforts to help homeless people and addicts, and for services such as utility assistance, counseling and a food pantry.

Bell-ringers will be out through Christmas Eve, except Sunday, at more than 70 locations in the area, including Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Walgreens, Schnucks and Kroger stores.
