Angel tree ready to give

The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program is gearing up for another season of giving.

The Angel Tree phone bank will begin taking calls at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The phone bank will take calls from parents and guardians of eligible children and from seniors or their caregivers.

The Angel Tree Program provides Christmas gifts to needy children and seniors in Shelby County, northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas.

Children ages 12 and younger currently receiving reduced or free lunches are eligible for the program. All seniors age 62 and older can participate.

Callers will be served on a first-come, first served basis until 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, or until the quota of approximately 1,000 families is registered Call 543-0066 to register.
