Birthday gift is in giving

Youths with the Rita Crocker Visual and Performing Arts Conservatory at Trinity Baptist Church celebrated director Gina Neupert's birthday with a fun-filled evening at Pump-It-Up.

Instead of supplying their teacher with gifts, the conservatory students bought Wal-Mart gift cards.

Neupert took this opportunity to donate the collection of gift cards to the Salvation Army shelter for homeless and battered women and children.

Elizabeth Duncan, Salvation Army's development director, visited Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova to personally thank Neupert and the youths for their dedication in making a difference for the disadvantaged.

The Rita Crocker Visual and Performing Arts Conservatory is collecting new and used outdoor recreational equipment such as basketballs, jump ropes, etc., for various needy summer camps in the Memphis area.
