Coffee Break: Army Surpasses GoalsThe Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign and Angel Tree program exceeded expectations, thanks to the generosity of Memphians. The Red Kettle campaign, the Salvation Army's largest yearly fund-raiser, raised $330,000, 13.8 percent more than the goal of $290,000. The money will help fund The Salvation Army's year-round programs like homeless shelters, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, children's programs and the food pantry. Memphians also helped make the Christmas dreams of 7,000 children, mothers and seniors come true, as part of the Angel Tree program. © 2008 commercialappeal.com - Memphis, TN. All Rights Reserved. |
