Cellular South Mike's Bikes is Geared Up for Giving Backime
MEMPHIS, Tennessee, November 7, 2008 – Cellular South Mike's Bikes is preparing for another successful holiday season. The program, which benefits The Salvation Army's Angel Tree project, will spread holiday cheer to needy children throughout the Memphis metropolitan area.
For the past five years, Cellular South Mike's Bikes has collected more than 5,000 new bicycles for less fortunate local children, and has significantly helped the Angel Tree program. This year, Cellular South Mike's Bikes will strive to provide a bicycle for every child in the program that wishes for one.
For the next six weeks, Mike Fleming, WREC radio host, will host three-hour live broadcasts on Friday afternoons at different Cellular South locations throughout the Memphis area. Listeners will be encouraged to donate new bicycles or helmets, either during the show or at their convenience.
"The Salvation Army is very grateful to Mike Fleming, WREC radio host, and Cellular South for all of their hard work, and especially, their generous spirit," said Major Mark Woodcock, Area Commander for The Salvation Army. "It is the most rewarding feeling to know children will receive a gift they have only dreamt about, and Cellular South Mike's Bikes is helping those dreams come true."
