The Ben Lear South Citadel Campus of
The Salvation Army Hires New Officers

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, July 23, 2008 - The Ben Lear South Citadel Corps, one of The Salvation Army's two community churches in Memphis, has two new officers to work with the community.

Lt. Jason Burns and his wife Bethany join The Salvation Army as officers for the primary purpose of sharing God's word as a part of the church.

Working with the underserved has always been a passion of Lt. Burns. He began working with The Boys and Girls Club in college and continued there for six years. From there he and his wife transferred to Atlanta, Georgia for officer training school.

Lt. Burns says the most rewarding thing about working as a Salvation Army officer is seeing people impacted by God through the ministries they encounter.

"I love seeing people develop a relationship with Jesus Christ and growing to discover the wonders God has for us," Lt. Burns said.

Lt. Burns and his wife credit their involvement with The Salvation Army full-time to the officers before them who greatly influenced them and prayed for them. He said they have a Godly heritage in these previous officers.

Lt. Burns and his wife have two children, Conner and Abigail.
