The Salvation Army Relief Efforts in HaitiThe Salvation Army is mobilizing personnel and resources to send to Haiti in response to the earthquake. Locally, we have been flooded with calls asking how to help. At present, the best assistance you can give is in the form of monetary donations (Donations should be marked "Haiti Earthquake Relief"). Such initial donations will provide food, clothing, and other essentials for survivors. Due to the uncertainty with air/sea shipping access to Haiti, it is logistically difficult to deliver food from a local food or clothing drive. Donations can be made via, phone, online or by postal mail:
Any donation made locally that is marked “Haiti Earthquake Relief” will be sent to The Salvation Army in Haiti for disaster relief efforts. Memphians also can drop off donations at any branch of First Alliance Bank into the special account set up by our partner WREG News Channel 3 for Salvation Army Haiti Relief Efforts. The Salvation Army Presence in Haiti The Salvation Army has had a presence in Haiti since 1950 and its personnel were affected by the earthquake and are now working to assist people in need:
