“Beat the Heat 2010” Distribution Day

• What: Volunteer opportunity to help with the distribution and installation of AC units to the recipients of “Beat the Heat 2010”

• About the event:
  From now until the end of July, The Salvation Army, WREG News Channel 3, Neighborhood Christian Center, Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association, Catholic Charities, Meritan, Volunteer Mid-South, Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, Memphis Light Gas and Water, and the Shelby County Community Services Agency are raising money to purchase new air conditioning units for seniors and the disabled who have no source of cool air. The goal of “Beat the Heat 2010” is to raise $30,000 for 300 AC units.
  
  “Beat the Heat 2010” Distribution Day is an opportunity to help with the distribution and installation of the AC units that are purchased from the money raised for “Beat the Heat 2010.” Volunteers will be put into groups, and each group will deliver about 3-4 AC units. Help bring life-saving relief to those who have been suffering from the summer’s temperatures.

• About the event:
  The Corporate Challenge Golf Tournament is benefiting The Salvation Army’s Renewal Place program, a two-year program for chemically addicted women and their children. For this year’s tournament, we ask that participants’ handicaps be no higher than 18. An awards reception will follow the tournament. Also, each team playing in the tournament has an equal chance to win great door prizes!
