Don’t Miss the Chance to Fulfill the Dreams of Angels in Need this Christmas

Christmas is quickly approaching, and the spirit of giving has already begun for those who have already adopted angels for this year’s Angel Tree program.

So far this year, 6,202 angels have been adopted by corporations, churches and individuals within the Memphis community and only 1,064 angels remain. Don’t miss your chance to spread some Christmas cheer this holiday season and give back to those in need.

The Angel Tree program is an opportunity to make a child's or senior’s Christmas extremely special and is a gratifying experience. Participants provide clothes, toys and other necessities to children and seniors who otherwise cannot afford these items.

“The remarkable spirit of our community drives this rewarding philanthropy every year, and we get to bring smiles to faces of less fortunate children and seniors,” said Major Mark Woodcock. “We hope our community will prove once again just how caring and generous we are by adopting these angels, even in spite of the struggling economy.”

The angels can be adopted from Carrefour at Kirby Woods, Wolfchase Galleria and Oak Court Mall or from www.jcp.com/angel until Saturday, December 12.

Sponsors for the 2009 Angel Tree program include AutoZone, FedEx, International Paper, Flextronics, Valero Refinery, Technicolor, Cellular South and The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary.

Ben Ferguson of News Radio 600 has teamed with Cellular South to present “Ben’s Bikes” with the goal of providing 500 shiny new bikes for Angel Tree children. Ben is doing live broadcasts from Cellular South locations throughout the metro area each Friday evening until the middle of December. To participate, visit the Web site at www.wrecradio.com.
