Day Captains Needed at Bell-Ringing Locations
Thanks to the help of last year’s volunteers and News Channel 3’s media coverage, last year’s Red Kettle Campaign broke the records, bringing in more than $370,000. News Channel 3 is once again our kettle media sponsor and our goal is $400,000. We hope this year’s efforts will provide the same positive results.
The Salvation Army works tirelessly all year round to bring the best programs, resources and services to those who are in need. None of this hard work could be complete without the help of the Memphis community, especially in regards to the well-known, annual Red Kettle Campaign.
Each year, volunteers brave the cold as they spread Christmas cheer to holiday shoppers by ringing bells and collecting donations inside their red kettles for the Red Kettle Campaign. Volunteers wish people happy holidays and a Merry Christmas as people run their Christmas errands.
By giving up a few hours at a time, the bell ringers are helping raise money for the on-going programs such as homeless shelters, family services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation services and children programs.
Ringing the bell is a great way for church groups, businesses and family and friends to get together, give back to the community and help get people in the Christmas spirit. It is a rewarding experience, and all you need is a smile.
All kettle donations stay in Memphis and are used at Christmas time and throughout the year to fund the on-going programs of The Salvation Army.
Day captains are needed at numerous locations throughout the city. For more information, please contact Elizabeth Duncan at 901.260.9130.
